The Heart of The Author

Man so often forgets the author of that precious book we call the Bible! This may be labeled “Old School” but I love the way some still have the print on the cover that says “Holy Bible”. While reading or meditating upon the glorious contents of the scriptures we sometimes forget that it’s all about The Revealing of It’s Author! Only The Wisdom And Love of God could author such profound writings that would not require a high level of intelligence for one to grasp the riches of its contents.

That precious book was authored in such a way to where even the most uneducated could receive it’s treasured blessings. Thankfully, Because of the grace and mercy of its author, all that’s required is a surrendered and believing heart.

2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Peter did not say whether those men were educated or illiterate but he did emphasize they were holy men. They were, holy men moved by the Holy Ghost. Holy men were being moved by the Holy author. Peter did point out, “no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will”. I just wonder how many of these scriptures of prophecy were spoken by those who were uneducated? I can’t help but wonder. how many or how few of those holy men had obtained a formal education. I wonder how many were unlike the apostle Paul who got to sit under the training of Gamaliel. It’s quite evident, the author of The Word doesn’t give priority to those with a formal education. According to the scripture, having the ability to read, write or speak with some rhetorical sophistication was no issue or concern to the author.

Peter said nothing about these holy men who spake these prophecies or prophecy being great orators. He said nothing about them having a degree or being superior in literature or speech and expression. However, if you hold those degrees that is fine, but Peter emphasizes it’s The Working of The Holy Spirit Moving Holy Men To Speak.

Look at the words of Paul here in:

1 Corinthians 2:14 “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned”.

The scriptures of the Word are not discerned because one has become some intellectual giant. They are spiritually discerned by one who has humbled themselves to a childlike faith and they have yielded to the Spirit of the author. (St Matthew 18:3)

The preaching and teaching may be full of revelation knowledge and the speaker may be highly anointed of God but it still takes the Holy Spirit to reveal the Word to the hungry heart.

John 13:16 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak, and he will shew you things to come.

It should go without saying, obviously education can certainly be a good thing and has its place. However, The Holy Ghost, which Is The Spirit of Truth, has never for one time brought intellectualism into His Church to be His substitute or replacement. The author, in His great Love has provided His own Holy Spirit as the revealer!

He said, Only Believe!

The scriptures are discerned by that same precious Holy Spirit that authored them. The author of the contents of that precious Bible never said, believe with your head! He said, Believe With Your Heart! It’s not what’s in your head, it’s what’s in the heart! God in His great love designed and authored the book for the simple humble believer!

God, The Author of His Own Word, in all of His divine wisdom and knowledge came to us in the form of a little baby. The Christ Child grew and expressed Himself as a dedicated shepherd to save lost sheep! Don’t degrade yourself because of some proud intellectual spirit trying to intimidate you.

That Precious Book Is All About Bringing Faith To The Hearer And Revealing It’s Author! Just as He moved upon a Holy people to deliver the prophecies of the Word, so will He move upon a Holy people to hear and do the prophecies of the Word.

“Only Believe” published in 1921. This song was written by Brother Paul Raider who at one time was an associate of Amie Simple McPherson. Only Believe, with it’s simple lyrics became the theme song in Brother William Branham’s great healing crusades. This song was a favorite of Smith Wigglesworth and sung in many of his campaigns. Only Believe, became one of Elvis Presley’s personal favorites and he recorded the song on a single two-sided record in 1971. Elvis recorded “Life” on the opposite side.

I myself have been blessed to minister the gospel in many nations around the world and have heard Only Believe” sung in many languages. Because of it’s simple lyrics that most everyone could relate to seemed to create an atmosphere of faith and believing “All Things Are Possible Only Believe”.
